The opening art exhibition for the opening of the new Bendigo Soldiers Memorial Instritute Military Museum, was such a great privilige for Robert, in February 2019.
The art compiled of oil on canvas and also fine pencil artwork, showing Modern Warfare, across all Defence Services.
One of his personal favourites BEAUTY WITHIN THE BEAST (a female American Marine drawn in fine art pencil), won The Veteran Community Story Writing & Art Competition in 2018, The Sir Edmund Herring Memorial Prize.
The exhbition also inlcuded a evening of Guest Speaking, where Robert explained how important art was to those who suffer with PTSD.
The museum collection covers from pre Boer War to Afghanistan including Army, Navy, Air Force, POW's and Women's Services. The material is extensive from medals, uniforms & equipment, firearms, swords and bayonets, trench art, personnel items, diaries, letters and post cards. There are some 80 plus folders containing copies of diaries, photos, letters, post cards and records laid out on tables for visitors to browse.
